The VALORANT Champions Tour is returning to Thailand, with Bangkok officially confirmed as the host city for two major events in 2025, VCT Ascension Pacific and Game Changers Pacific. The announcement was made via VCT Pacific’s official social media channels, generating excitement among fans and players across the Asia-Pacific region.
A Growing Esports Hub
Thailand continues to solidify its place as a top destination for esports in Southeast Asia. Known for its enthusiastic fanbase, reliable infrastructure, and accessible travel options, Bangkok provides a fitting stage for high-level VALORANT competition. The city hosted the first VCT Masters event of 2025, and following the success of that tournament, Riot Games has chosen to bring Ascension and Game Changers to the Thai capital as well.
What We Know So Far
Although specific dates and venues have not yet been disclosed, Riot’s 2025 roadmap indicates that all VCT Ascension tournaments are scheduled for October. This timeline gives competing teams a few more months to prepare through their respective Challenger Leagues in hopes of qualifying.
In 2024, VCT Ascension was hosted in Jakarta, Indonesia. Bringing the event back to Thailand reflects Riot’s commitment to rotating high-profile tournaments across Southeast Asia and giving more fans access to live esports.
Updated Format for VCT Ascension Pacific 2025
The 2025 format introduces more competitive tension. Last year, both grand finalists, Sin Para Gaming (now known as Nongshim RedForce) and BOOM Esports, qualified for VCT Pacific due to the disqualification of Bleed Esports. This year, the pathway to remain in the league is more challenging.
To retain their spot in VCT Pacific, 2024’s promoted teams must either:
-
Qualify for VALORANT Champions 2025 in Paris, or
-
Finish in the top 8 of Stage 2 in VCT Pacific
If they fail to meet these criteria, they’ll be relegated back to their regional Challenger Leagues. This opens the door for two new teams to earn promotion through Ascension, intensifying the fight for a place in the 2026 VCT Pacific season.
What This Means for VALORANT Fans
With Bangkok playing host once more, fans in the Asia-Pacific region will have another opportunity to attend a premier VALORANT event in person. Game Changers Pacific will also shine a spotlight on the region’s top female and non-binary talent, bringing further diversity to the competitive scene.
From high-stakes promotion battles to the celebration of underrepresented talent, VCT Ascension and Game Changers Pacific 2025 promise to be must-watch tournaments. Stay tuned for further announcements regarding tickets, venues, and full schedules in the coming weeks.
