Quadrants Sad Farewell to the Esports Community
The UK-based esports and content organisation Quadrant has officially announced its decision to exit the esports scene.
Founded by British F1 driver Lando Norris four years ago, Quadrant initially began as a content creation brand, later expanding into competitive Halo esports in December 2021. Since then, Quadrant’s Halo team has found notable success, placing highly in major events, such as the HCS Arlington Major last year and securing a win at the Europa Halo LAN in Blackpool.
Quadrant’s reach grew significantly, amassing 171,000 followers on Twitter and nearly a million subscribers on YouTube, while Norris himself boasts around 1.7 million followers on Twitch. Earlier in 2024, Quadrant attracted a seven-figure investment and welcomed popular UK content creator WillNE as a co-owner.
About Quadrants Departure
This week, however, Quadrant announced its departure from competitive esports. In a statement released by Quadrant CEO Jamie MacLaurin, he explained, “As of October 29, 2024, Quadrant is stepping away from the Halo Championship Series and direct esports involvement to fully focus on our broader vision—a brand embedded in motorsport culture, fashion, and creative content.”
MacLaurin shared the pride Quadrant feels for its esports achievements and extended heartfelt thanks to its HCS players, 343 Industries, and Microsoft for their dedication. “To our fans,” he added, “we thank you for your incredible and unwavering support. You’ve reminded us constantly why we entered esports, and we hope we’ve created as many memorable moments for you as you have for us.”
Quadrant shared additional reflections on their esports journey on X. MacLaurin remarked, “We’ve loved competing against top esports organisations globally. It’s been an honour to work with talented individuals and perform on some of the industry’s biggest stages.”
Though Quadrant didn’t specify the reasons behind its departure, the current challenges in the esports industry, sometimes referred to as an “esports winter,” have made it increasingly difficult for many organisations. Quadrant was recently recognised among the top 14 UK esports organisations.
For now, Quadrant departs with gratitude and a renewed focus on exciting ventures outside of esports.
