MW3 Update Boosts Performance of Popular MW2 Weapons: What’s Changed?

The latest MW3 update boosts various MW2 guns, enhancing gameplay and strategy options for players.

The exciting journey of Modern Warfare 3 as a live-service title is approaching its finale, paving the way for the highly anticipated Black Ops 6, set to launch in just over three weeks! As we gear up for this new chapter, there are still a few updates and content pieces left for MW3, and the latest arrived today, albeit with some curious tweaks.

Today’s update, rolled out on October 1st, introduces a range of unexpected changes that have left players scratching their heads. Instead of fresh content, we’re seeing a return to some old favorites from 2022’s Modern Warfare 2. Notably, this update buffs several weapons that have largely sat on the sidelines during the past year in MW3. Strangely, while the new DTIR30-06 was added to the roster, it was nerfed again, now featuring a lower torso damage multiplier.

In a surprising twist, the patch notes are brimming with upgrades for the shotguns: the KV Broadside, Lockwood 300, Accelerate 12, Bryson 800, and Bryson 890 all received enhanced range. The standout among these is the Lockwood 300, which saw an astonishing 86% boost at maximum damage range. Talk about putting some extra firepower into the hands of players!

Moving on to the marksman rifles, the Crossbow and SA-B50 have also been revitalized. The Crossbow now boasts an impressive 81% increase in bolt speed, while the SA-B50 is tweaked for improved close-range effectiveness. In total, seven classic MW2 weapons have been improved, likely aimed at injecting more variety into MW3’s arsenal – a welcome change considering the game did not introduce new firearms post-launch as part of its seasonal content.

Secondary weapon options have also been bolstered! Popular sidearms including the P890, .50 GS, X12, Basilisk, FTAC Siege, GS Magna, and X13 automatic saw their damage increased, enhancing their competitiveness against MW3’s weapon lineup. These updates provide players with a broader selection beyond the ever-reliable Renetti!

One of the more understated changes involved the M13C assault rifle from MW2, which received a modest damage boost from 31 to 32. This minor tweak allows it to secure a four-shot kill if a bullet lands as a headshot within its maximum damage range. While some might overlook this change, every little enhancement counts in the heat of battle!

The update also extends to Warzone, but only one weapon, the Crossbow, from MW2 was addressed here, mirroring the changes made in MW3. This sets the stage for the forthcoming Black Ops 6 integration within Warzone.

Lastly, the patch notes reveal a significant fix for spawn availability between Expedition variants. This means that players can expect more consistent spawns across maps, regardless of the color palette or time of day. As Sledgehammer Games noted, “Based on player feedback supported by our analytics, spawn quality is improved by approximately 10% on Shipmas compared to Celship and Ghost Ship.” Players can now enjoy a more streamlined and balanced experience.

For a deep dive into the full patch notes and all the intricate details, be sure to check out the Call of Duty website. As we look ahead to the launch of Black Ops 6, it’s thrilling to see how these updates are shaping the current landscape of competitive gaming. The excitement is palpable, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds!
