Exciting Times Ahead at Worlds 2024: European Teams Shine

Fantastic news for European League of Legends enthusiasts! Three teams from the region have secured their spots in the Swiss stage of Worlds 2024, with MDK successfully advancing as well. The thrill reached a fever pitch when Mad Lions Koi triumphed over PSG with a nail-biting 2-1 victory in the first play-in final qualifying match held in Berlin, following their impressive 2-0 win against Vikings Esports just days prior.

This remarkable achievement means that Mad Lions Koi will join their fellow European contenders, Fnatic and G2 Esports, in the Swiss Stage of Worlds 2024, which kicks off on October 3, 2024, at the spectacular Riot Games Arena in Berlin.

As for PSG, they now find themselves in the lower bracket and will face off against the winner of the showdown between Fukuoka Hawks Gaming and 100 Thieves this Sunday, as they vie for a spot in the Swiss stage.

In the meantime, GAM Esports and Rainbow7 are currently battling it out for another coveted slot in the Swiss leg of this epic tournament.

In an emotional moment following their victory, Alvaro, MDK’s support player, shared his exuberance with the stage host, Laura: “I’m really happy right now because I’ve taken a step forward. I’ve had some fantastic matches, and I’m thrilled because now we get to play against the best teams at the World Cup, and you’ll learn a lot from that.” He added, “We have a lot to improve, individually and as a team. This series has taught us plenty, and we must strive to enhance our gameplay as much as possible moving forward. Huge thanks to all the fans—it’s surreal to be playing at the World Cup, especially as rookies. We’re ready to embrace this challenge in the Swiss stage and give it our all. I want to dedicate this victory to my mother.”

MDK’s ADC, Supa, chimed in with his own excitement: “I’m absolutely thrilled because this is the last step before we play against my idols. I believe we’ll take a great leap as a team. A massive thank you to all the fans for showing up; I adored the experience! Personally, I can’t wait to take on the NA teams!”
