With the release of LoL Patch 14.21 on October 23, Riot Games has kicked off another round of updates as the 2024 season winds down. This patch brought significant changes, including a major Swain rework and several adjustments to other champions like Galio, Camille, and Karthus, which are likely to impact higher-level play. These balance tweaks, especially nerfs to popular picks, could create shifts in the current meta.

One of the most notable changes for me is Irelia’s buff, which might improve her viability in solo lanes. Additionally, changes to objective bounties aim to balance snowball-heavy games, offering more opportunities for comebacks and reducing the risk of one-sided matches.
Since this patch news just dropped, information on upcoming changes is still limited. However, we’ve gathered a few early leaks and tentative updates.
Patch 14.22 Release Date
According to Riot’s schedule, Patch 14.22 will go live on Wednesday, November 6. It will be the 22nd update out of the 24 patches planned for this season.
What Does Patch 14.22 Mean for the LoL Meta?
With numerous changes in store, this League of Legends patch could bring an explosive shift to the current meta. While many champions are getting minor adjustments, a few standout changes are worth keeping an eye on. Irelia’s buffs, for instance, are significant for her split-pushing potential, likely elevating her to top-tier status in the meta.
Jax is set to receive a slight nerf, which may decrease his impact in the top lane. In the jungle, buffs for Wukong and Vi will benefit their popularity, particularly in mid-to-high Elo games. For mid lane, expect higher play rates for Swain and Katarina. The bot lane likely won’t see substantial shifts, as minor buffs to champions like Varus and Vayne aren’t expected to make them viable meta picks.
