The eighth patch of the 2025 League of Legends season is on the horizon, and while it may not bring sweeping changes, it still packs a few noteworthy updates for players to dig into. From champion tweaks to long-awaited cosmetics, here’s a breakdown of what to expect in LoL Patch 25.08.
Patch Focus: Aatrox Adjustments & More
As we move beyond April Fools’ Day and into the spring stretch of the season, Riot continues to refine gameplay balance with targeted changes. One of the only confirmed adjustments so far is aimed at Aatrox, who’s set to receive a small buff to his sustain capabilities.
According to a preview by game designer Spideraxe, Aatrox’s E (Umbral Dash) healing will scale slightly better with bonus health, increasing from 0.9% to 1% per 100 HP. While it might not look dramatic on paper, this buff could improve Aatrox’s laning durability and scaling, particularly in longer skirmishes.
Additionally, his W damage type is changing from magic to physical, bringing his damage profile more in line with his overall build path.
New Skins Incoming
Patch 25.08 is also delivering some highly anticipated cosmetics, including:
-
Victorious Twisted Fate – The ranked season reward finally arrives, offering a sleek skin for players who performed well in the ladder.
-
Fate-themed Skins:
-
Fatebreaker Malzahar – 1350 RP
-
Fatebreaker Taric – 1350 RP
-
Fatemaker Nasus – 1350 RP
-
-
Sahn-Uzal Mordekaiser – A reworked version of the previously delayed skin is back with updated visuals and effects following community feedback.
These skins continue Riot’s recent trend of thematic cohesion, giving players more ways to personalize their champion pool.
When Does LoL Patch 25.08 Release?
Based on Riot’s official 2025 patch schedule, Patch 25.08 is set to launch on April 16, 2025. Expect the usual staggered rollout across servers starting early morning PT.
How Might the Meta Shift?
With no major system reworks or sweeping champion adjustments announced yet, don’t expect massive meta shifts this patch. Still, players should keep an eye on how Aatrox’s buffs affect top lane dynamics, especially with damage-focused champions continuing to dominate over traditional tanks.
Early-game pressure and high-mobility champs have seen increased priority recently, so if Riot doesn’t introduce disruptive changes, those trends may continue into 25.08.
