Fortnite is known for its massive collection of skins, far too many to rotate through the shop regularly. Some, however, go missing for much longer than others. One such skin, the Master Chief outfit, is finally making its return in Chapter 6.
Recently, Epic Games has been bringing back many older skins that haven’t been seen in ages. Earlier this month, the Renegade Raider—one of the rarest skins in Fortnite—made a reappearance. While the Master Chief skin isn’t quite as rare, its absence of over 900 days has certainly made it a prized find for players.
The iconic Halo protagonist was first introduced back in Fortnite Chapter 2, but for reasons unknown, the skin has been unavailable for quite some time. According to Fortnite leakers, this is set to change tonight with the latest item shop update. So, what can fans expect when the Master Chief skin finally returns?
Master Chief Fortnite Skin is Back
Leaks indicate that Fortnite will reintroduce a rarely seen skin this week. Alongside the much-anticipated Cyberpunk collaboration, another gaming legend is making a comeback: Master Chief. The skin has been absent from the shop for a staggering 934 days, teetering on the edge of being considered a “never returning” cosmetic.
Master Chief was initially released in December 2020 and was available for most of that month. The skin returned sporadically over the next couple of years, in March, August, and September of 2021, as well as during the summer of 2022. After that, it disappeared entirely.
Tonight, the iconic skin will finally be available again. While the long hiatus hasn’t been officially explained, it may have been related to licensing agreements with Microsoft, potentially due to their focus on their live-service Halo game. Alternatively, it could simply be a case of Epic Games choosing not to feature the skin for an extended period.
For fans of both Fortnite and Halo, this return is a rare opportunity to snag one of the more elusive crossover skins in the game.
