Exciting news is on the horizon for Destiny 2 players as Bungie gears up for a significant transformation of armor systems in their upcoming expansion, Codename: Frontiers, set to debut next year. It might just be time to bid farewell to your well-loved Artifice gear!
In a thrilling Developer Insight blog post released on October 1st, Bungie unveiled a fresh vision for the next generation of legendary armor. This revamp aims to make armor not just a passive feature but rather a dynamic and engaging element of gameplay. With a focus on creating impactful stats and new fantasies that come with armor set bonuses, the experience is poised to be more enjoyable and easier to navigate for all players, making farming an even better experience!
One of the standout changes involves a reduction in the number of stats on each piece of armor—from six down to three. These will include two stats defined by the armor’s archetype. For instance, a Titan chest piece from the Brawler archetype will showcase Strength as the primary stat and Leadership as the secondary stat. Even better, class items that currently lack any base stats will boast a complete stat distribution!
But that’s not all—Bungie is overhauling the way stats function. Gone are the days of wasting points on non-impactful stats. Instead of being ranked, every single point now holds value, meaning no more stat waste. And with the new stat cap set at 200, players will find themselves gaining powerful buffs for exceeding 100. Imagine having that extra grenade or melee charge at your disposal during those crucial moments in battle!
Another thrilling element in this overhaul is the introduction of fixed bonuses, or "native armor traits," that embody specific themes or fantasies. There will be two bonus sets: one featuring two pieces and another with four. This creates an incredible opportunity to seamlessly blend exotic armor into your loadout. One tantalizing example revealed is the Tex Mechanica theme, which grants increased movement speed and enhanced weapon handling while firing from the hip—plus it upgrades Tex Mechanica weapons as well!
As these fresh upgrades roll in, players can expect some updates to existing armor as well. While Bungie promises to keep changes to classic legendary armor pieces minimal, they will adjust the stat types—but rest assured, the values will remain intact. As for Exotic armor, including Exotic class items, we’ll have to wait just a little longer for those updates.
This ambitious armor rework is just one part of the broader armor and weapon rating system that Bungie previewed earlier this month. While the intricate details are still unfolding, players are buzzing with anticipation over how these changes will interact and whether there will be new avenues for farming their ideal armor sets or archetypes.
As the world of competitive gaming thrives on innovation and excitement, Bungie’s bold steps in reshaping armor dynamics in Destiny 2 show their unwavering commitment to delivering an exhilarating experience for all Guardians. Stay tuned as we follow this story closely and bring you the latest updates on what’s sure to be a game-changing evolution in the Destiny universe!
