In the high-stakes realm of Destiny 2 raids and dungeons, the availability of ammo can be the fine line between securing that critical damage phase and facing a frustrating wipe. Thankfully, the upcoming seasonal Exotic is set to change the game by showering you and your fireteam with ammo—and we mean that in the most literal sense!
Today’s Revenant devstream unveiled a wealth of exciting new additions coming to the highly anticipated second episode of Destiny 2, including a brand-new (and seemingly addictive) grenade launcher that boasts infinite ammo! With a unique aesthetic and a plethora of clever tricks up its sleeve, this weapon looks like it’s going to be a game-changer. The new Exotic Season Pass weapon is the second grenade launcher to utilize primary ammo in the game, following the soon-to-be refreshed Fighting Lion.
Its projectiles fly straight and true, reminiscent of those sought-after micromissiles from Mountaintop, and they deal stasis damage. What sets this grenade launcher apart is how it plays with the mechanics of ammo generation. Eliminating foes with this formidable weapon creates Remnants, visually akin to those from Lumina and Thorn. As you gather these remnants, you fill the Exotic’s Vestigial Alchemy perk, which rewards you with even more ammo. By holding Reload when your progress bar is halfway filled, you can spawn a brick of special ammo. Once you reload, maintaining pressure on the button and firing will launch a powerful heavy ammo brick directly into view!
Another significant advantage of this new grenade launcher is its consumption of primary ammo, meaning it activates Ammo Search and Scout mods more frequently, generating a wealth of ammo for you and your team. During the devstream, viewers were treated to a thrilling preview where developers faced off against Expert-level enemies in the revamped version of Onslaught, showcasing the weapon’s devastating potential.
This new grenade launcher is poised to be a dominant force in Destiny 2’s second episode. The broadcast also highlighted a range of artifact changes that enhance both grenade launchers and stasis weapons, including a modified version of the popular Breach and Clear mod from the Season of the Splicer that weakens bosses or champions when struck by a grenade launcher.
Fans of the franchise should mark their calendars! Players who purchase the Revenant season will have the opportunity to unlock this incredible Exotic when the episode launches on October 8. But don’t fret if you don’t own it just yet; even those diving into the game without the season can snag this Exotic for free—but be ready to grind through a few Season Pass levels first!
With so much to look forward to, this season is shaping up to be a game changer in the Destiny 2 universe!
