GiantX GC Team Makes History at Valorant Game Changers Championship

The GiantX GC team secures their spot in the Valorant Game Changers Championship after a thrilling season.

GiantX, the dynamic British and Spanish esports organization, has clinched a coveted spot in the 2024 Valorant Game Changers Women’s Championship with their remarkable roster, GiantX GC! Competing in the VCT Game Changers, the prestigious international women’s circuit of Riot Games’ acclaimed shooter, this talented team has qualified for this elite event by successfully accumulating the vital points across three competitive seasons.

Joining the ranks of G2 and Falcons Vega, the trio of EMEA teams that have secured their places, only GiantX showcases a UK player: Sarah ‘Will be’ Ahmed. She’s in great company with her teammates, including Türkiye’s ‘Smurfette’ Gündüz, Neslişah ‘Ness’ Demir, Eylul ‘Miyori’ Sudem Sarıoğlu, as well as Tina ‘Joliinaa’ Agéli from Sweden. The team is expertly guided by coach Antonio ‘Aska’ Lozano from Spain, marking an incredible milestone not just for the players, but for the organization as a whole. Notably, they also feature subplayer ‘mimier’ Özdin from Türkiye in their ranks.

With impressive performances netting two third-place finishes in EMEA, which includes Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, the GiantX GC squad struck gold by reaching the final of the third split. This triumph earned them a highly sought-after ticket to the 2024 Game Changers Championship, essentially a Valorant women’s world championship. In a press release, GiantX expressed that this achievement stands as their most significant international milestone thus far for 2024.

The team’s journey to success was fueled by determination and resilience, as they battled through the lower bracket of Stage 3 of Game Changers EMEA with an impressive string of four straight wins. "GiantX’s summer season in Game Changers was characterized by steady improvement," stated their organization. After initially stumbling with two group stage losses and another defeat against NASR Ignite in their first playoff match, GiantX rallied back spectacularly. They triumphed over Odd 1 Out, Heroic, and their fierce rivals Falcons before eliminating NASR Ignite to solidify their championship spot.

Now, the excitement builds as GiantX prepares to face G2 Gozen in the final of the third split, set for Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 3:30 PM BST.

"This team deserves all the success they have achieved in this division," GiantX passionately declared. "The hard work has paid off, and we can’t wait for the LAN finals and then the Champions League 🏆. A big thank you to @FUTesportsgg for being such wonderful hosts for our bootcamp, and thank you all for your continued support!"

Expressing her joy, Smurfette remarked, “Ggs to NASR – we finally broke the curse and didn’t come in third place.” Meanwhile, Joliinaa chimed in with enthusiasm, stating, “GG 3-1 NASR, I love my team so much, I’m so happy to qualify for the Champions. Let’s go!”

Continuing their celebration, GiantX affirmed, “The players exceeded expectations and will also compete for the title in the third split, the last stage before the World Championship.” However, they’re bracing for a tough challenge, labeling their opponents, G2 Gozen, as “a dominant force in the competition.”

Mark your calendars – the Valorant Game Changers Championship 2024 will unfold in Berlin from November 8 to 17, 2024. So far, only G2 Gozen, GiantX GC, and Falcons Vega have qualified, but the excitement doesn’t end there! They will soon be joined by two teams each from North America and the Pacific, alongside one team from China, one from LATAM, and one from Brazil.

G2 Gozen previously dominated the 2022 championship in Germany, and last year, it was Shopify Rebellion lifting the trophy in Brazil. Launched in 2021, Riot Games’ Game Changers circuit aims to “create new opportunities and improve the exposure of women and other underrepresented genders” in esports.
