Treyarch has confirmed plans to nerf the Recon perk in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 following player backlash since the game’s launch last week.

The Recon perk’s 3-perk bonus allows players to briefly see enemies through walls after respawning, adds a HUD edge flash when enemies are outside the player’s view, and removes death markers when killing enemies. To enable this powerful bonus, players must equip three Recon perks, such as Ghost, Engineer, and Vigilance.
The wall-vision aspect of Recon has been especially controversial within the Call of Duty community, with some players comparing it to a wallhack. In Black Ops 6’s competitive multiplayer mode, which features close-quarter maps with frequent deaths and respawns, the ability to see enemies through walls, even temporarily, provides a major competitive advantage.
This advantage has made Recon’s 3-perk bonus essential, sidelining perks from the Enforcer and Strategist categories. The recent addition of the popular Nuketown map has only amplified the issue. Nuketown’s tight layout and high-paced action mean that players with Recon often dominate, making it hard for others to survive for long.
@Treyarch NERF RECON PLZ.

Over the weekend, with complaints about Recon peaking, Faze content creator Swagg publicly urged Treyarch to nerf the perk. Treyarch’s Associate Director Matt Scronce responded simply with, “Incoming,” suggesting a change is on the way.
Though no specifics have been shared yet, Scronce’s message has already been met with positive feedback from players who have blamed Recon for making multiplayer less enjoyable. Fans hope for a swift update, especially with Season 1 launching on November 14.
