The MongolZ Power Through to Victory
The series kicked off with intense exchanges between the two teams. The MongolZ took the first map, only for Heroic to strike back immediately. The third map, Anubis, was a nail-biter that could have gone either way, but The MongolZ managed to edge out Heroic with a score of 13-11. Often in these best-of-five finals, winning the pivotal third map gives a team the momentum to dominate, and that’s exactly what unfolded here. Heroic appeared to lose steam, and The MongolZ decisively closed out the series with a commanding 13-2 win on Mirage, securing their triumph in the Thunderpick WC 2024 CS2 tournament.
One of The MongolZ’s standout strengths is the fragging ability of their in-game leader, bLitz. This skill was evident throughout the Grand Final, where bLitz finished with 68 kills—tied for the top spot on the server with Senzu. In contrast, Heroic’s IGL, kyxsan, managed just 40 kills over the four maps.
Overall, the Thunderpick World Championship has had another stellar year, showcasing incredible CS from top teams. The MongolZ are worthy champions, further solidifying their reputation as one of the leading CS2 teams on the global stage.
